Shinnimin suspended 12 games

The WHL has finally announced the punishment for Tri City Americans forward Brendan Shinnimin after his devastating hit from behind on Saskatoon Blades forward Josh Nicholls.

The hit occurred on the 6th of October, so the league has taken their time to make the announcement.

According to the WHL's discipline section of their webiste.....the decision is to sit Shinnimin for 12 games:

I had my doubts as to whether or not the league would suspend him for any more than 5 or 6 games, so this decision is shocking, but definitely in a pleasing way.

After having almost a week to think about the incident, I still think it might be the worst hit I have ever seen.

It would be interesting to see what factors all played into the league's decision in this case. The biggest being the fact that Shinnimin is an elite player in the league, and at the time of the incident, was tied for the league lead in scoring.

I'm sure more details around the decision will be released very soon as the mainstream media should talk about this hit even further now that the long weekend is over and the decision has been made.
