The Prince Albert Raiders opened a home and home against the Blades with a big win last night, taking care of the Blades 3-1.
Brandon Herrod got the Raiders going with a goal not even 6 minutes into the game. He banged in a rebound off a point shot by Antoine Corbin.
5 minutes later Lukas Sutter would score his first WHL goal, also burying a rebound after winning an offensive zone draw to tie the game. Yesterday a story was featured in the Star Phoenix about Sutter, and the fact that he was yet to score in 30 regular season games. I guess you could say Cory Wolfe helped break the bad karma.
With just over 3 minutes left in the opening frame Brandon Herrod would get his second of the night as it was 2-1 after one for PA.
Despite a bucket load of good chances and great end to end action, no scoring would happen until later in the third when the Raiders would ice the game as Jonathan Parker got his 16th of the year on the powerplay.
Adam Morrison made 29 saves in a losing effort. 17 year old rookie Eric Williams was the backbone for the Raiders with a great performance, stopping 28 shots for the win.
The Blades powerplay was held scoreless again going 0 for 4. The Raiders were 1 for 5.
