Former Wheatking Brayden Schenn and his Blades teammates got revenge tonight following last week's ugly loss in Brandon.
They returned the favour from last week's 7-4 loss by winning tonight 7-4 in Saskatoon.
It was Brayden Schenn leading the way with a 5 point night. Saskatoon got goals from Curtis Hamilton, Matej Stransky, Stefan Elliott and 2 each from Jake Trask and Brayden Schenn.
The top line of Hamilton-Schenn-Trask combined for a total of 12 points, while Stransky's goal was one of the nicest I have seen this year. Watch for it on the WHL's plays of the week.
The Wheatkings played a pretty strong game despite the score. They did give up several odd man rushes and their puck management was not very good, but they had a ton of great chances offensively that failed to come through for them.
They got their goals from Mark Stone and Scott Glennie, who each had 2.
Adam Morrison was the winner in his return to the lineup in the last 38 days. He was pretty sharp, despite giving up 4 goals (with 3 of those on the powerplay). Mo made several spectacular saves, including a massive glove snag early in the third period.
Saskatoon won without two of their top 3 centers. Brent Benson continues to be day to day while nursing an injured knee. Marek Viedensky tweaked his groin in practice yesterday and is day to day. Both could be back in the lineup on the weekend.
These two teams meet up again Friday night here in Saskatoon. Brandon will be surely looking for their revenge.
