Nino Named WHL Player of the Week

Portland Winterhawks forward and New York Islanders prospect Nino Niederreiter has been named the WHL player of the week.

The 18 year old from Switzerland had 9 points, including 7 goals, in 4 games last week.

The big winger is currently on a 5 game goal scoring streak. This year in 49 games he has 61 points. Nino was the 5th overall pick of last year's NHL Entry Draft by the Islanders.

In other news, Chilliwack Bruins goalie Lucas Gore has been nominated as the CHL's goalie of the week. He was 4-0 on the week with a shutout, a GAA of 1.00 and a .968 save percentage.
