Ranford Suspension Announced

Brendan Ranford of the Kamloops Blazers has been suspended 6 games for crosschecking a WHL linesman last week.

He was being escorted to the penalty box following a slashing penalty against the Kelowna Rockets on Friday night, when he crosschecked linesman Kris Hartley.

Ranford admitted after the game it was the wrong course of action and that he let his emotions get the best of him during the 5-1 loss.

Despite that, the league has come down fairly hard on the 18 year old Philadelphia Flyers draft pick.

The Blazers only have 2 games left in the regular season and are only 2 points back of Everett in the Western Conference playoff race. But, they also have 2 fewer games remaining compared to the Tips.

If the Blazers miss the postseason, Ranford will sit out the remaining 4 games of his suspension to start next year.

Ranford has 86 points in 68 games this year, including 33 goals. He also has 68 penalty minutes.
