Steven Stanford has been named as the Saskatoon Blades 2010-2011 playoff Most Valuable Player.
The 20 year old goalie played in all 10 Blades playoff games this spring. He posted .930 save percentage and a 2.52 GAA, while winning 4 games and losing 6.
Stanford was a class act all season and I always had a good time interviewing him after games, despite the fact that he is a man of very few words. I did actually manage to make him laugh once, which is a pretty big accomplishment if you ask me.
It sounds like he will be trying to keep his options open to see if he gets any interest from the pro's. If not, he will make a damn fine Canadian University goalie for some team out there.
Congrats on a great year and a great WHL career Stanny.
