Saskatoon Blades forward Ryan Olsen is among the invitees to the 2011 Ivan Hlinka Team Canada training camp.
Current Blade defender Duncan Siemens took part in the event last summer for Team Canada.
42 players were invited in total, with 15 of them coming from the WHL.
Olsen is a centre that played very well in his rookie season in the WHL. He's got pro size at 6'2 and put together a 14 point season this year along with 39 penalty minutes. He steadily improved his play as the season went along before getting hurt down the stretch and missing a large chunk of the Blades playoff drive.
He plays a mature game and was counted on by the Blades to play a solid defensive role, spending much of the season as a third line centre.
Other WHL invitees are as follows:
Matt Dumba - D, Red Deer
Derrick Pouliot - D, Portland
Ryan Pulock - D, Brandon
Griffin Reinhart - D, Edmonton
Morgan Rielly - D, Moose Jaw
Nicholas Walters - D, Everett
Troy Bourke - FW, Prince George
Brendan Leipsic - FW, Portland
Brandon Magee - FW, Victoria
Connor Rankin - FW, Tri City
Tyrel Seaman - FW, Brandon
Hunter Shinkaruk - FW, Medicine Hat
Chandler Stephenson - FW, Regina
Robert Trzonkowski - FW, Calgary
The camp runs July 30th to August 2nd in Calgary. The actual tournament is scheduled for August 8-13 in Slovakia and the Czech Republic.
